ASL ASSESSOR
Location: Phoenix, Tucson or Remote
Employee Status: Temporary
Hours Per Week:  As-needed
Work Calendar: 12-month
Pay Rate: $25.00/assessment
CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION


Conducts ASL assessments for staff and students of ASDB. The assessments are for those individuals who are acquiring ASL as a first or second (etc.) language. These assessments may include, the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) and Visual Communication Sign Language (VCSL) assessments, among others.
 
Required: Previous experience working with children or adults using American Sign Language in paid/voluntary positions in educational and/or administrative settings

  • Preferred:  Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, i.e. American Sign Language, and/or Deaf Education; Experience in teaching and/or assessing ASL; Knowledge and training of VSCL and/or SLPI.
  • Obtained ASLPI 4 or better, and/or SLPI rating Advances or Superior
